We are a collective of Latino urbanists, planners, architects, and developers who are actively working to enhance Spanish-American involvement in the urban environment. Our mission is to bring awareness to the historical influence of Latino and Native American planning and architecture, which have played a significant but often overlooked role in shaping the New Urbanism movement. Our logo symbolizes the original expansion of Latin America, encompassing the region that eventually became the United States.

Throughout history, Latino and Native American planning and architecture have provided a strong foundation for the development of communities. The Spanish colonial grid and Native American plazas and public spaces served as the backbone for ancestral communities, although their contributions have often gone unrecognized. Our goal at CNU Latino is to reclaim the credit for this multi-dimensional infrastructure and revitalize the principles of New Urbanism.

To achieve this, we focus on professional development, representation, support, and fostering a vibrant cultural exchange. Through these initiatives, we aim to empower Latino urbanists, planners, architects, and developers, ensuring their voices are heard and their expertise is recognized within the urban planning field. By engaging in a lively cultural exchange, we foster collaboration and learning among professionals from diverse backgrounds, enriching the New Urbanism movement with a broader perspective.

CNU Latino is a dedicated group of professionals working together to elevate Spanish-American engagement in the urban environment. Through our efforts, we aim to shed light on the historical contributions of Latino and Native American planning and architecture and propel the New Urbanism movement forward by promoting professional development, representation, support, and cultural exchange.
